The coq or rooster is a national French symbol that dates back to the middle ages. The proud animal is still used often in France, from a mascot for sports teams to gold coins. It is no surprise that HB-Henriot created a pattern to celebrate the beautiful bird. Cocorico! (that's cock-a-doodle-doo! in French)
The lug bowl measures 5 inches in diameter. It is the most classic piece of Quimper Faience. Mention Quimper Faience to any French person and they will likely think of the lug bowl! As the manufacturer's web site states, "The round lug bowl was created by HB-Henriot. Now well know in the whole world, it has been many times copied, but only the signature "HB-Henriot Quimper France" ensures that it is fully hand made and hand painted in Quimper."
All Quimper faience pieces are fully handpainted. Each piece is therefore unique. Pictures are representative of the style only; actual piece may differ slightly. Made in France.
