In Alsace, France, the tradition of textile printing was already well established in 1759, when King Louis XV issued a decree that officially elevated printing from a craft to a prestigious royal industry. At Ribeauvillé, in the hollow of a valley, the "Manufacture d'Impression sur Etoffes," now Beauvillé, has been refining and perfecting its knowledge of fabric printing for more than two centuries. Beauvillé towels are block printed by hand in France on a sumptuous fabric blend of linen and cotton. These towels are beautiful for display and durable for use.
